Marine Navigation – Basic


This course is run over 2 evenings,  from 18:30 to 21:30, the aim of the course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to navigate a small vessel on a short voyage within inshore limits (30 NM).

The course content includes:

  • Use of a nautical chart
  • Applying compass concepts to navigation
  • Obtaining weather and tidal information
  • Planning and navigating a short inshore passage

This course includes both theory and practical assessments (one of each) covering the basic aspects of navigation within coastal waters.

All training materials and charts will be provided for attendees use on the night of the course.
