We regularly work with a range of organisations, both in training activities and in live SAR operations.

Water Police
During major searches, our radio operations team and boat crews work in close cooperation with the WA Police (Water Police Branch), who are the state’s Hazard Management Authority, (HMA). We also participate with Water Police in Search & Rescue training and our volunteers are frequently invited to Water Police HQ for information and familiarisation visits.

Fremantle Sea Rescue Group
We frequently work with our southern neighbour in handling routine radio traffic and whenever a vessel needs to be returned from Rottnest or Fremantle to a northern suburbs marina. We participate in joint searches where multiple vessels are required and we call on Fremantle Sea Rescue for assistance in navigating our popular Rottnest convoys around the bays.

CHC Helicopters, RAAF Pearce and RAC Rescue
We regularly participate in training with helicopter crews and paramedics in preparation for emergency medical evacuations from one of our vessels.

We also provide assistance to the RAAF in their pilot training programme. This involves transporting student pilots to a designated rescue area where they are winched by helicopter from a one-person life-raft. We act as safety vessel during these training exercises.

Volunteer Marine Rescue (WA)
We support VMR(WA) in the provision of services dedicated to marine rescue throughout Western Australia

Department of Fire & Emergency Services
Volunteer marine rescue groups such as Whitfords regularly participate with other volunteer services in public education and awareness activities organised under the DFES banner to promote recognition of the work of volunteer marine rescue groups.

Two Rocks Sea Rescue
We work in cooperation with our northern neighbour in handling radio traffic and when search and rescue operations span the two areas of operation.

Surf Life Saving WA
We work with several SLSWA groups at various times when there are shore-based aquatic activities such as surf carnivals, abalone fishing etc.

Fisheries and Parks & Wildlife
From time to time, we cooperate with government agencies in situations where there is a threat to wildlife. This includes reporting and assisting the agencies in dealing with marine mammals in distress, and advising boat owners of dangerous circumstances.

Department of Transport
We work in cooperation with the Department of Transport at events that promote boating safety and maintenance, and emergency equipment.
